Southern Africa Bound

When Davis started Rice, I made a deal with him that if he graduated in four years, I would take him to South Africa to see part of the World Cup, but that if it took longer than that, he would have to pay for any overage himself.  Talk about the carrot and the stick!  Anyway, here we are, eight semesters later, with a son who will graduate in May.

We got the notice today that FIFA approved our bid for World Cup tickets.  Whatever we pay for tickets, flights, and lodging will be less than a semester at Rice.  I promise.

For some reason I always forget to look at this blog (need to put it in my reader). Sean has lots of family in South Africa (he lived there until he was 10) and really wanted to go but seeing as how we will have an approximately 6 week old baby at the time, I told him 'no way'. He will be jealous, especially of the USA v ENG tickets.

Anyway, my point is that if you need any help with anything we have lots of connections there! (Luckily a lot of things, especially food, are pretty cheap once you're there.)
